Obituary for
Dora Janzen (Rempel)
DORA JANZEN
Dora Janzen was born to Erdman and Anna Rempel on June 1, 1929 in their home near Morden, MB. She was the 6th in her family with 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Dora attended Cheval School, completing Grade 7. Thereafter, she provided housekeeping services in neighbourhood homes. She was baptized upon her confession of faith and became a member of the Evangelical Mennonite Mission Conference church in Winkler.
Dora had decided that she would never marry, but in 1949, she became friends with “her Peter” and married him on July 19, 1951. They remained friends for 67 years. Together they raised a family of seven children, two sons, and five daughters. Throughout their married life, they worked together to achieve their goals. In 1984, they took a Mennonite tour in Europe and attended the Mennonite World Conference. In 2002, they went with a tour group to Belgium, Netherlands, Poland, Moscow and Germany. After some voluntary service work in churches, they retired to Winnipeg.
Dora’s health declined over the last number of years, and on November 21, 2018, she continued her faith journey to her eternal home. She was predeceased by her parents, one sister, and three brothers. She leaves to mourn her parting, her husband Peter, five daughters, two sons, and their families; one brother, three sisters, one sister in law, numerous extended family members and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 11:00 am at Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street, Winnipeg, with viewing prior to the service. A private entombment will take place at Holy Angel Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Foodgrains Bank or Mennonite Central Committee.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Dora
