Obituary of Grace Griffin
In her 98th year, beloved daughter of the late Curtis and Irene (O’Connor) Griffin , a longtime St. Brigid’s Parish member. Predeceased by siblings Rev. Merritt (Bud) Griffin , Rosemary Starks (Joseph), and Sister Mary Terence (Margaret, Grey Sister of Pembroke).
Her memory lives on through her sisters Sister Mary Paschal (Irene) and Sister Lorraine Griffin, both Sisters of the Precious Blood, as well as Rosemary’s surviving children in Ontario and New York State .
From 1943 through 1979 Grace taught high school at South Mountain , Aurora and Scarborough , with specialties in home economics and guidance. She would be retired longer than she actually taught. She surely loved her church, and she often remarked that being with those you love is enough. She deeply treasured the loyal friendship of colleagues, former students, generous friends, caregivers and family. With their kind assistance, she could maintain a fierce independence with a simple dignity.
Friends may call on Monday, November 26 from 1-4pm at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home ( 6150 Yonge Street , at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 27 at 10am at Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church ( 3220 Bayview Avenue north of Finch). Interment to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery .
