Obituary Overview
Richard James Brown
Brown, Richard James, age 71, of Dartmouth, passed away on November 18, 2018 in the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in Montreal, he was the son of the late Mary Susan (Robichaud) and James MacKay Brown.
Richard graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Acadia University in Wolfville where he taught in the early 1980’s. He also worked at Maritime Life in Halifax as a Senior Software Developer and Analyst.
He was a Life Master Bridge Player and also represented Nova Scotia in 2009 and 2011 at the Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championships. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Nova Scotia Daylily Society. Richard was a life-long sports fan and especially of the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers.
He is survived by his wife Sharron (Lewis), Dartmouth, daughter Ellen (David) Hicks, Sackville, NB; grandchildren, Ben and Katie Hicks. He is also survived by his sister Margaret Hudson, Ancaster, Ontario; nephews David (Shelley) Hudson and Stephen (Lorraine) Hudson as well as many family members on the Lewis side.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Gerry Hudson.
Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will take place at 2:30 on Saturday November 24th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth with a reception to follow.
Interment to take place at a later date in Five Islands, Colchester County.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Myeloma Canada.
