OBITUARY
Richard Herbert Wilkie Grant
January 17, 1946 – November 13, 2018
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Richard Herbert Wilkie Grant, who passed away unexpectedly on November 13, 2018 at the age of 72.
Richard will be lovingly remembered by his three children Lori Thorvalson (Drew) Courtney Grant, Spencer Grant (Gerri), and his grandchildren Brittany Peltz, Connor Peltz, Rylan Grant, Camryn Grant and Buddy, his brother Robin Grant (Connie) and his niece Jayda Grant. He also leaves to mourn many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Richard was predeceased by his parent Doris and Hank Grant and the love of his life Margaret Grant.
Richard was a dedicated father who never missed his kid’s hockey or baseball games, even if he had just come off of a long work shift. Later in life he was a proud grandfather, who took the time to develop a special relationship with each of his grandchildren.
Richard will be forever remembered for his passionate loyalty to his teams; the Raiders, the Celtics, the Braves and the Red Wings, and his equally passionate dislike of the Habs. He was a fixture at the Cambridge hotel and his local Legion, and where he was always willing to have a beer and a chat with his many friends and family.
To say that Richard was a music lover is an understatement. Over the course of his life he collected thousands of records, 45’s, 8 tracks and cassettes in addition to magazines, and other memorabilia. He attended hundreds of concerts and was always trying to share music with those that he loved.
Richard was an avid bowler throughout his adult life. Like with everything else in his life, Richard shared his love of bowling with his family. Lori, Courtney, Spencer and Robin will always have fond memories of bowling with Richard. His colorful commentary made bowling with Richard a memorable experience.
The memorial service for Richard Grant will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Thomson “In the Park” Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard with refreshments to be served immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the St. Vital Historical Society.
