Quilty, Sheila
1954 – 2018
Sheila passed away on November 13th 2018, at the age of 64 peacefully while surrounded by loved ones. Devoted Mother of Wally Quilty (Jamie), Sarah Quilty and Gary Quilty. Cherished Grandmother of Grayson Quilty. Beloved sister of Cathy Wilkie (John), Susan Hovi and Kim Bilodeau (Jim).
Predeceased by her Father John T Gray, Mother Mary E Gray (Neilson) and brother in-law Frank Hovi.
Sheila will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Sheila was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick moving to Ottawa early in her childhood. Sheila was an exceptional athlete growing up. She played high school basketball, was on the gymnastics team, and the track and field team. She played on the Sir John A MacDonald water polo team and was so competitive she was selected to play on the Provincial team and played in the Canadian Summer Games. She was also able to play a mean round of golf in her younger years. Sheila later studied at Algonquin College leading to a career in legal services, starting out working in a lawyer’s office, then heading up the Landlord and Tenant Bureau and subsequently a Law Clerk for the City of Ottawa. When Sheila was not working she enjoyed spending her free time at the cottage with her family. Sheila was known for her witty sense of humor – she was always quick to chime in with a clever joke. As remembered by her children Sheila’s favorite phrase to say was “I don’t care”, even when she did. Sheila is also remembered for her big heart, it was natural for Sheila to put those she cared about before herself. Sheila was a proud Mom to her three children; always present when needed. As the saying goes “Mom’s always know best” this was often proven to be true with Sheila. Despite her declining health in recent years what brought Sheila the most joy was to enjoy a nice dinner with all of her children.

Friday, November 30th, 2018 from 5 to 9 pm. A Memorial Service for Sheila will be celebrated at Kelly Funeral Home – Kanata Chapel on Saturday December 1st, 2018 at 12:00 noon.
