Obituary for
Helen Theresa Berlinguette (Barnett)
BERLINGUETTE, Helen
nee Barnett
June 21, 1931 – November 9, 2018
Peacefully, surrounded by her family after a short illness. Predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Leonard Berlinguette, brother Vince Barnett and sister Catherine Shephard. Helen is survived by her five children, Mary Margaret “Maggie” (Jack), Paul (Fiona), Michael (Joy), Kathy and Susan. Loving grandma to Adam and Shannon Cooper (Laura Toombs), Riley, Sean and Heather Perks, Spencer and Claire Jones. Friend and companion to Les Hughes. Helen was born in London, Ontario and married Len in 1955. Throughout his career, they moved from London, Belleville, Ottawa, Montreal, Burlington, Vancouver and finally back to Burlington in 1974. With five children in tow, she always made it an exciting adventure. During those years she excelled at golf and was especially proud of Club Championships at Seymour, B.C., Hidden Lake and Burlington Golf & Country Club where she was a member for 35 years. Helen went back to school (at the age of 60) and was hired at Joseph Brant Hospital in the admitting department, where she worked until 65 years of age, with her best friend Eleanor. She will be forever remembered for her musical gift at the piano from Chopin to Boogie Woogie, she entertained and touched countless people. She was our glamour mom, that could light up a room with her vivacious presence. She will be missed by many. Special thanks to the caring staff at Tansley Woods and Creekway Village. Celebration of Life will be held at the Burlington Golf and Country Club on Saturday, November 24th from 2-5p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Helen to the Dorothy Ley Hospice – as Helen supported the palliative journey.
