We regret to announce the passing of Shirley Garnier, age 76, on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Taigh Solas, Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines on March 12, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (MacDonald) Wassilaskus.
Shirley loved the outdoors and taking drives. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Josie (Chris) Harvey, and 2 grandchildren, Brianna and Jenna, they were her world, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Joseph, her sister Theresa (late Maurice Phillippo), and her sister Marguerite Lorraine in infancy, and the father of her daughter, Ernest Garnier.
A very special thank you to her other family at Taigh Solas for the care given to her over the years.
Cremation has taken place. Her family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 10 – 11 a.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main St., Sydney Mines.
