It is with sorrow, the family wishes to announce the passing of “Harry Gowman” of Tillsonburg, formerly of Brantford, St. George and Toronto. At his home, on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at the age of 92 years, with loving family by his side. Wonderful and supporting husband to Fern Gowman (Brittain).Much loved father of Barbara Glass (Doug) of Vanessa, Ross Gowman (Tracy) of Stayner, Kurt Gowman (Donna) of Whistler, British Columbia, Lynn Gysbers (Martin) of Brockville and Chris Gowman (Barb) of Tillsonburg. Proud grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Harry is also survived by his sister Doreen Campbell. Predeceased by his parents Russell and Annie Gowman their daughter Julia and son Russell. Most of Harry’s working career which spanned 40 plus years, was spent as a superintendent of Metro Parks and Properties for the city of Toronto. After retirement, Harry focused on his woodworking skills spending countless hours, especially in the craft of making grandfather clocks. Harry was a member of Oriental Masonic Lodge # 181 also a member of the Tillsonburg Shriners.
Friends and relatives are invited to join with Harry’s family for a visitation at Ostrander’s Funeral Home 43 Bidwell St. Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) on Saturday November 10, 2018 from 9:00 A.M. until 10:A.M when a memorial service will commence. If wished, donations in Harry’s memory may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Association or the Canadian Mental Health Association by contacting the Funeral Home or Directly to the charity. Inurnment will take place in Tillsonburg Cemetery.
