Mary Lois (Lois) Arundel,nee Riopelle
January 25, 1931 – October 23, 2018
Peacefully, in hospital, on October 23, 2018 with her family by her side. Proud and loving mother of Michael (Patricia), Mary Kay (Gary Pollock) and the late Catherine (Mike Hall). Cherished “Grams” of Brooke (Dave Ralph), Brandon Arthurs, Kate (Matt Vlemmix), Casey Arundel (Deirdre), and Carling Arundel. Sweet “GG” of Blake, Cullen and Camden Ralph and Macklin Vlemmix. Welcomed additions to her family were Connie and Robert Walker (children Daniel and the late Hannah), Alicia (Travis VandenTillaart -children Beau and Hayes) and Nicholas Sposito.
Survived by her much loved siblings, Hugh (Marie), Gerald (Jeannine), Harold (late Alice), Joan (late Tom Farrell), preceded in death by her parents Hugh and Edith (nee Purcell) Riopelle and her brother Patrick (Paddy).
She will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
The legacy of the Riopelle’s is happiness. Lois was shaped in that happy, tumultuous little home on Champagne Ave. The good looks, the ear-tugging smile, the happy eyes, all Riopelle traits. Lois exemplified all of them – tough but gentle, out-going but still a bit shy, confident but never arrogant, and loyal to the death. We are all very lucky people that we got to experience the gift of her. We will love you all the days.
Family and friends are invited to visit the Kemptville Chapel of Hulse Playfair & McGarry, 805 Prescott Street, Kemptville, Ontario, on Friday, October 26th from 6-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Cross Church, 505 Clothier Street West, Kemptville, Ontario on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 11m followed by interment. Donations may be made to the Bayfield Manor Auxillary or Arthritis Society.
