STEVENSON, Joseph William
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and Papa Joe on Saturday, May 30, 2015, in his 85th year. Survived by the love of his life and best friend Mary and his children, Todd and Darlene Stevenson, Teresa and Tim Hannigan and Jody and Bill MacDonald. Papa Joe was the number one fan of his grandkids: Shayne and Erica Stevenson; Ryan, Connor and Collin Hannigan and Mary, Emily and Jack MacDonald. He will be remembered as an avid hockey fan (Who’s Number 1?) and nothing brought more joy to his life than spending time with his family. He was born in Sudbury, Ontario and held many jobs throughout his lifetime starting in the mines at a very young age. He settled in Dunnville in 1963 and was a mainstay of the community. He was a member of the Kinsmen Club and was a founding member of the ever popular Mudcat Festival. He was a Town Counsellor and owner of Big Daddy’s Pizzeria. To know him was to love him; his larger than life personality, his hearty laugh and love of life and family will be missed by many. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Welland Hospital for their compassion during his short stay. We would also like to thanks the staff at Grandview Lodge who cared for Joe over the past year and a half. A special thank you to Dr. Blake for the care she provided to Joe over the years.
Friends may call at the J.W. Hart Funeral Home, 113 Lock St. E., Dunnville, on Tuesday June 2, 2015 from 7-9 and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 204 Alder St. W., Dunnville, on Thursday, June 4th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation.
