Evelyn Anderson
1923-2018
It is
with heavy hearts that the family of Evelyn Ruth Anderson announces
her passing in Hampton on Sunday, October 14, 2018. Born on August 3,
1923, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Mildred (Machum)
Beckett.
Born in New Jerusalem, Evelyn became a teacher and taught in local
schools before marrying Tom and moving to Montreal. Evelyn continued
to teach and raised their 3 boys before retiring to Hampton in 1976.
Evelyn loved picking berries and going to the beach! She loved
visiting and was the main organizer of the Jerusalem picnic for many
years. Evelyn enjoyed traveling, going to Montreal every year to visit
the grandchildren, and heading south to find the sun as often as she
could. Evelyn was a faithful letter writer and a pillar of the Beckett
family.
She is survived by her sons: Gary Anderson of Calgary, AB,
and Bobby and his wife Vivian of Montreal, QC; sister Ruby Laird of
Hampton, NB; sister-in-law Eleanor Beckett of Martinon, NB;
grandchildren: Kyle (Chela), Shane and Kurt, and great-grandchildren
Chris and Zoshi; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her
parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband Tom Anderson;
son Donnie Anderson; grandson Jamie; and siblings: Deedy (Doherty),
George, Don, Greta, Dorothy and Colin.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home
(506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB, where a visitation will
be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 5 to 8pm. The Funeral
Service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 1:00pm from
Reid’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hampton
Rural Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the charity of the
