William Gerald Zimmerman, age 81, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on September 17, 2018. Born in Howick Township, August 19, 1937, son of the late Sanford and Tessie Zimmerman.
Beloved husband for 56 years of Karen (Cook). Loving father of Brent Zimmerman (Cathy) and grandfather of Emily and Allison. Brother-in-law of Robert Cook (Betty), Jack Shiell and Jean Andari. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by siblings Valma Jacques (Addison), Audrene (Harry Templeman) (Wesley Gallaway), Bonnie Shiell, Harry Zimmerman (Georgina), Betty Andari and sister-in-law Betty Jean (Garry Finnigan).
Bill worked for the Ministry of Transportation for 35 years until his retirement in 1992. He always enjoyed time at the family cottage in Point Clark.
Family and friends will be received at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, September 19, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 1 p.m. with a reception to follow.
