Daughter of the late William and Gertrude Gold (nee Garvin). Beloved wife of David McNaughton, of Belleville. Loving mother of Jennifer McNaughton, of Toronto, and David McNaughton (Jana), of Burlington. Dear sister of Robert Gold (Linda) of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Proud grandmother of Megan and Emily. Nancy grew up in Montreal, graduating with a Diploma in Nursing from the Montreal General Hospital in 1956. She and David met through mutual friends and married in 1961.
Nancy’s career in Community and Maternal Child Health Nursing flourished as she and her husband raised their family in Ottawa, followed by Mississauga. In 1973, Nancy received her Family Practice Nurse Practitioner Certificate (McMaster University). After her family moved to Prince Edward County, she continued her studies (commuting to Hamilton) and achieved her Master of Health Science Degree (McMaster University) in 1977. She went on to become the Chairman of the School of Health Sciences Loyalist College of Applied Arts & Technology in Belleville. While at Loyalist, she served on the board of the College of Nurses of Ontario and was Provincial Head for the Ministry of Colleges & Universities. Nancy’s next roles were with the City of Toronto – Clinical Nurse Specialist at Jessie’s Centre for Teens, followed by Clinical Nurse Consultant for the Teaching Health Unit (with cross appointment as Lecturer, University of Toronto). Throughout her busy career, she was actively involved with the Ontario & Belleville Handweavers and Spinners, University Women’s Club (CFUW), Bridge Street United Church, Foundation, United Way of Belleville & District and Quinte Living Centre for Seniors.
After retiring in 1996, her interests included genealogy research, memoir writing and bridge. She was an active member of the Quinte Probus Club. Nancy loved to travel and enjoyed adventures with David all over the world.
