BELANGER, Gilles
Age 51, of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully Oct. 4, 2018, at home surrounded by his loved ones, after a long hard fought battle with cancer.
Born in LaSalle, QC, on Dec 17, 1966, he was the son of the late Gilles and Nicole (Lavingne) Belanger. Gilles’ career in telecommunications spanned over 30 years, where he held every position from technician to management. He loved his work, especially with his most recent employer, Cabco which he considered his work family. Every day was different, filled with new challenges. Gilles was also very involved with Sackville Minor Hockey as a referee. It was a position he took seriously and enjoyed helping young refs improve. He also volunteered with various teams over the years. Gilles favorite pastime, when he wasn’t at the rink or running the kids to their activities, was golfing, he loved being out on the greens with his many friends. Gilles is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years Janette (Marshall) Belanger, his cherished children Francis, Jennie, (Justin Laurens) both of Blainville, QC, Meaghan, Sean and Sarah, of Lower Sackville; his sister Annie (Alain) Levesque, St. Eustache, QC., his in-laws, Bob and Rita (Martell) Marshall, sister-in-law, Leigh-Anne Marshall, nephews Benjamin and Frederik, nieces Bridget and Lily, many aunts, uncles and extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday Oct 13, at 11:00am, Bedford Baptist Church, Rev. Heather Mitton, officiating with a reception to follow in the church hall. We the family would like to thank the staff of 9A, 4.1 and 4.2, Dr. Porter and Liz, Dr. Colwell, Dr. Razak, Pernille, the VON, as well as Barbara and the Palliative Care team for all of your care and support over the last 3 and a half years.
