Margaret Sylvia Bay October 1st 2018

It is with great sadness, that the family of Margaret “Sylvia” Bay announces her passing on October 1, 2018, at the age of 79, after a difficult but courageous battle with cancer.
Sylvia will be forever lovingly remembered and missed by her husband of 63 years, Len, and by their children, David (Kelly), Tami (Marty), Laurie Ann (Kevin), and Sharon (Mark). She will also be fondly and forever remembered by her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren- Jason (Kristen- Addison, Evelyn, Garrett), Lauren (Dave- Grace, Jack, Will), Tyson, Colton, Adam (Jen- Madison/“Punk”, Olivia/ »Tootie ») and Megan (Brian- one on the way), as well as numerous extended family, good friends especially Lorraine, Doris and Anne. She will be deeply missed by her furry friend Patches.
Sylvia was born June 29, 1939 in Nelson, BC, and was the youngest of 6 brothers and sisters. She met the love of her life, Arthur Lenard Bay, in Nelson and married on Nov 3, 1956, where they resided in Riondel with their 4 children before moving to Trail in 1965.
As the Matriarch of the family, she was a selfless woman who always put others needs ahead of her own. She devoted her life to raising their four children, as well as volunteered as a care aide at Willowhaven Residential Care in Nelson, BC, and at Columbia View Lodge in Trail, BC. She enjoyed many past times such as playing and watching curling, skiing, golfing, playing and coaching softball, playing Dice, playing the slots and was an avid hockey and baseball fan with staunch allegiances to the Vancouver Canucks and the Toronto Blue Jays. She loved camping at Christina Lake, and created many fond and lasting memories over the past 50 years.
Sylvia lived her life as a strong willed woman who lived on her own terms, with an incredible sharp witted sense of humour, that kept us on our toes. Our hearts are broken to let her go, but we will forever cherish the many wonderful memories.
We would like to send a special thank you to Drs Hii and Yo, the staff at BC Cancer Agency SAHCSI including Drs Marianne Taylor, Islam Mohamed, Sarah Lucas, Ross Halperin, and the radiation therapists, Diana Ferguson and the wonderfully supportive Palliative Care nurses and care aides at Columbia View Lodge.
As per her request, there will be no service. Brent Long of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in memory of Sylvia Bay to the BC Cancer Agency SAHSCI (in Kelowna) at 399 Royal Ave, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3 or online at www.bccancer.ca
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Margaret Sylvia Bay October 1st 2018..
