Obituary for Nanette Clugston
Clugston, Nanette Cecilia (nee Dowhan)
Passed into the loving arms of God with her family at her side on Friday, September 7th, 2018. She was the dearly beloved wife of Terry Clugston. Survived by her three sons Scott & Vivian (Oakville), Bradley & Laura (Guelph) and Jeffrey & Cindy (Stouffville), by her 9 grandchildren Hailey, Carley, Dylan, Jordyn, Shayne, Abby, Regan, Brooke and Joseph. Also survived by her brother Michael & Mary Jane Dowhan (Windsor), sister Delores Sydorchuk and Wally Payonk (Winnipeg) and her siblings-in-laws Glenn & Nancy Baldwin (Burlington). She will be dearly missed by good friends and neighbours on Terraview Crescent (Guelph), as well as many nieces and nephews who she treasured so much.
Nanette was predeceased by her parents Michael & Dorothy Dowhan, her in-laws Harold & Evelyn Clugston, her sister Cathy Wachel (nee Dowhan) and her sister-in-law Jeannette Glenwright.
Nan came into this world on February 8th, 1942 and was born in Windsor, Ontario. She grew into a beautiful young lady in Windsor and met her husband Terry at the age of 15. Nan and Terry were married on May 11th, 1963 and enjoyed 55 years together. Nan was a school teacher in Northern Ontario for a few years before it was time to start a family. She gave birth to Scott (1967), Bradley (1968) and Jeffrey (1969). She gave her all in raising her sons through hours spent at cold hockey arenas and hot baseball diamonds. Once the boys finished high school, Nan started working again at Coles/Chapters where she worked at stores in Pickering and Guelph for the next 25 years. Nan loved working in a bookstore as she loved to read all of her life. Nan was also very proud of her many grandchildren.
A gentle, beautiful, giving spirit, Nan was loved by all who had been in her life. Kind-hearted and caring, she embodied all that is good in people. She was truly a gift to us all.
Special thanks to the caring doctors, nurses and staff in the ICU at Guelph General Hospital who took excellent care of Nan during her time in the hospital. Also our sincere appreciation to the exceptional response provided by the Paramedics, Guelph Fire Department and City of Guelph Police.
