Sister Helen « Sister Teresa Anne » Dunnigan GSIC
Sister Helen Dunnigan (Sister Teresa Anne), a Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke, Ontario, died in Pembroke, ON, on the 8th day of September, 2018, in the 77th year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn her loss are the members of her Religious Community, nephew, Robert Tremblay, grand-niece, Amber Westfall, grand-nephew Derek Johnson (Mariena), other relatives and many friends. Predeceased by her parents, William J. and Teresa (Garvey), brother William, and sister, Margaret Tremblay. Sister Helen was born in Ottawa on August 13th, 1922. She entered the Community on September 7th, 1942, pronouncing final vows on July 24th, 1947. A teacher by profession, she ministered at Immaculata High School, Ottawa in Special Commercial for twenty years. In 1964, she was elected to the General Council of the Community, serving as Treasurer for the next seventeen years. Other assignments included Administration of the Youville Residence for the elderly, Vancouver, B.C. and as Founding Director and later one of the Spiritual Directors of the Marguerite Centre, Pembroke. Visitation at Caritas Residence, 215 Deacon St., Pembroke: Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Funeral Liturgy in the chapel at 1030 a.m. Interment in St. Columba Cemetery. Arrangements in the care of Murphy Funeral Home.
