Obituary for
Lionel Andre LeSage
Lionel LeSage, age 82 years, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, after a long, hard battle against ALS. He was a beloved husband of the late Judith (O’Grady), who has undoubtedly put him to work vacuuming their place in heaven. Loving father of Brian LeSage (Melanie) and Lynn LeSage, who will forever miss his wisdom and guidance. They take a bit of comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and is now with Grampa O’Grady cheering on their beloved Ottawa Senators. Lionel was a very proud Grampie of Owen and Julia. There was no snowstorm bad enough to keep him from one of his favourite places in the world – rinkside watching Owen play hockey. Or from watching Julia dance, smiling from ear to ear as he marvelled at how talented she was. Dear brother of Joan Shaw (Late Howard) and Larry LeSage (Janet), predeceased by brother Bert LeSage ( Late Georgette). Lionel always had a story about their childhood in old Ottawa east, sneaking into Rough Rider games, swimming in the canal and playing with their dog, Calhoon. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, who Lionel loved spending time with. Niece Sarah perhaps summed it up best: « We’ll miss his sense of humour, his laugh and the love he had for family. Nobody rings a doorbell like Uncle Lionel did! » Friends and family are invited to visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 150 Woodroffe Ave. (at Richmond Rd.) on Sunday September 9th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church 1060 Baseline Rd. on Monday September 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Society of Canada or Elizabeth Bruyère Continuing Care would be appreciated.
