Wilson Alexander Capstick passed away on Saturday Sept. 1, 2018 due to a long battle with cancer and MS. Born in Neil’s Harbour Hospital, Victoria County, Cape Breton on February 22,1952, he was the only son of the late Maurice and Winnie (Maclean) Capstick.
Wilson obtained a BA from Saint Mary’s University, Halifax and a Bachelor of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University, Halifax specializing in Early Childhood Education and taught at Ingonish Elementary for one year, and also was a substitute teacher in Halifax. Wilson served with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans as Uniformed Inspection Officer from 1980 to1997, and then with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Fish Inspector from 1997 to 2009 in various locations including Halifax, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Vancouver Island and the Queen Charlotte Islands.
Wilson loved playing guitar, violin, hunting, fishing as well as biking, running and skiing.
Wilson is survived by two sisters Gloria (Sydney) and Maureen (Halifax), his daughter Laura Katherine Capstick, (Kelowna, B.C.), and partner Kathryn Gwynn-Brett.

There will be no visitation. The funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at 11.00 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Dingwall with Fr. Ike Alphonsus Iwuji officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery. Donations in Wilson’s memory may be made to the Buchanan Memorial Hospital fund.
