Robert’s Obituary
CONNORS, Robert William – Age 83, of Rockland, Kings Co., passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Somerset, Robert was a son of the late Harvey and Retta (Gould) Connors. He was an amazing husband,father grandfather and great grandfather and friend to many. Robert will be deeply missed but never forgotten. In his earlier years worked driving truck for Eassons Transport Ltd. Robert then went on to pursue his career as a carpenter for approximately 50 years in the Annapolis Valley area which he was well known for by many. He was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch No. 69, Berwick, and a member of Berwick Baptist Church. Robert and Gladys enjoyed square dancing and were members of Berwick Belles n’ Beaus. His passion in his earlier years was darts, he then enjoyed cribbage which he played many tournaments in which he won the Legion Atlantic’s with his partner, Harris Steadman. In his later years, Robert’s favourite game to play was his marble game in which he made many boards for anyone that was interested. Surviving are his wife of 65 years the former Gladys M. Silver; children, Corey (Christine); Wallace (Loretta); Marvin (Donna), all of Rockland; Sharon (Andy) Roop, Greenwood Square; Kirk (Sandra), Morristown; Kevin (Jackie), South Berwick; son-in-law, Cecil Kelley, Rockland; seven grandchildren, Paula (Merrill), Michelle (Mike), Tanya (Vicky), Tammy (Barry), Kenneth, Conor and Haley; seven great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Madison, Jaden, Shannon, Sam, Dakota and Dawson; sisters, Violet (Everett) Dalton, Prospect; Elizabeth (Henry) Chapman, South Waterville; Doris Usher, Waterville; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by daughter, Marilyn Kelley; granddaughter, Malinda Lutz; brothers, Donald and LeRoy; sisters, Barbara Usher, Margaret Pynch and Thelma Adams. There will be no visitation. Memorial service will take place at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, in Berwick Baptist Church, 265 Commercial St., Berwick. Rev. Evan & Rev. Kayla Colford officiating, with interment in Berwick Cemetery. A reception following in Berwick & District Lions Hall. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to Kings Co.
