In Loving Memory Of
Andreas Saastad
Andreas Saastad, resident of Wembley, AB, formerly of Valhalla Centre, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the Beaverlodge Hospital, at the age of 95 years.
Andreas was born in Norway on May 29, 1923. He emigrated at the age of 4 and resided in Valhalla with his family. Later in life he married Mona Braathen and started a farm where they raised 5 children. He retired and sold the farm in 1992 and moved to Wembley. Although they moved to town, his heart always remained on the farm.
Andy was funny, easy going, a proud Viking man, and strong willed. He enjoyed curling, fishing, farming, cards (especially crib), gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Mona Saastad; children: Aubrey (Rose), Rob (Lori), Wayne (Jenny), Greg (Val) and Monica (Dave); grandchildren: Ryan Saastad, Brandon Saastad, Chandi Saastad, Rochelle Stephenson, Colton Tiedeman, Kayleigh Saastad, Sondra Saastad, Jeremy Saastad, Tim Saastad, and Justin Stover; great-grandchildren: Peyton Stephenson, Cale Stephenson, Emry Saastad, Hallston Saastad, and Maddox LeBlanc; and siblings: Albin (Kay) Saastad, Gina Lunde, and Elisabeth (Karl) Naess Hilsen.
He was predeceased by his parents Arne and Kirstine Saastad, sister Annie Rohn, brother Oddvar Saastad, and grandson Cody Saastad.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Hythe and District Pioneer Home Foundation (Box 388, Hythe, AB, T0H 2C0).
