Obituary for
Mirko « Mike » Trogrlich
It is with heavy hearts we announce the
passing of Mirko Trogrlich, our father,
grandfather, brother and uncle at the age of
96. Predeceased by his wife Mary, he is
survived by his son John (Sharon), grandsons
Michael and Matthew, sister Milenka Vukovic
of Split, Croatia, as well as nieces, nephews,
in-laws and relatives here and overseas.
Mirko was born in Studenci, Croatia and
immigrated to Canada, arriving in Halifax in
1951. After working in Ontario, Alberta, and
Kitimat, BC, he settled in Vancouver where he
lived a wonderful, long life with his family. He
was a member of LiUNA Local 1611 for over
50 years and lent his talents to construction
projects all over the Lower Mainland. In
retirement Mirko could be found enjoying
long walks on Kitsilano Beach and spending
time with neighbours and friends. His
integrity, independent spirit and genuine
warmth will be greatly missed. Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated on
Tuesday, August 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the
Immaculate Heart of Mary Croatian Catholic
Parish, 3105 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver.
Entombment will follow at the Ocean View
Burial Park, South Mausoleum, 4000
Imperial Street, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers,
donations in Mirko’s memory to the Haro
Park Centre Society would be appreciated.
