OBITUARY
Norman Cowan
July 18, 1926 – July 19, 2018
Peacefully in the early morning of July 19th, hours after celebrating his 92nd birthday with close friends, Norman Cowan passed away at Poseidon Care Centre.
Norm was born in St. James, Manitoba on July 18th, 1926. From his early days as Assistant Manager at the Capitol Theatre (where he met his loving wife and life partner, Patricia Cowan), through his many years as Regional Public Relations manager for the CBC and later consulting for a local marketing firm, Norm’s gentlemanly good nature and constant willingness to help others earned him many friends throughout the city and country. He volunteered countless hours with many non-profit organizations, including Juvenile Diabetes, Rainbow Stage, and the Lung Association of Manitoba. He was also an active member of the Khartum Shriners and helped organize the Winnipeg Press Club’s Beer and Skits events. Through his incredibly active life, Norm (and his wife Patricia) possessed a joy of life that resonated with all those who knew them.
Never having children of their own, Pat and Norm were dedicated Godparents to Kim, Kerry and Tricia, and Rod. « Uncle Norm » was always kind and supportive, and very much loved by them all.
Norm’s ashes will be laid to rest alongside Patricia at Elmwood Cemetery, beside his mother and sister.
A formal service will not take place.
Those wishing to remember Norm are welcome to give a donation on his behalf to the Lung Association of Manitoba.
