Pearl Lusk (Oxtoby)
November 25, 1935 – June 26, 2018
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of the matriarch of our family, our Mom, Pearl Lusk (nee Oxtoby) November 25, 1935 – June 26, 2018.
Pearl was predeceased by the love of her life George in 2011. Survived by her 4 children, Glenn Lusk (Shelley), Cindy Cullen (Doug), Linda O’Neill (John Hegan) and Vicky McNeil (Ken). Grandchildren, Kori, Reesa (Rob), Kaitlyn (Luc), Michael (Steff) and Chase. Two Great Grandchildren, Austin and Brantley as well as many nieces and nephews and friends.
Pearl was lovingly “second Mom” to most of our friends growing up and especially “us kids” life long friend Niels Svenningsen.
Mom will be dearly missed by her lifelong best friend, Sandy Hodson and her dear friend, neighbor and book buddy, June. “Squirt” the cat will miss his Mommy too.
Pearl was born in Innisfail, Alberta, where she spent her early years on the family farm. In her teen years, Pearl moved to Calgary to attend high school. In 1954, Pearl met and married her beloved George and she moved to Vancouver where they raised their 4 children.
Pearl worked at various companies and made many good long-time friends. Pearl retired from Cottrell Forwarding as the Industrial First Aid Attendant in 1996. As if raising 4 children and having a full time career wasn’t enough, Mom could always be found next to Dad, building our sailboat, (her namesake) “PEARL” or our cabin, “The Place” which we spent many years enjoying and making endless great memories and tons of laughs with all the family and many friends…and the food!!
In later years, Mom and Dad moved to Campbell River to retire. In Mom’s retirement, you could be sure to find her either in her garden, (she was a gifted gardener) baking or sitting in her chair reading a novel or playing online Scrabble and in the “comfy” chair crocheting or cross stitching something for someone she loved.
Those who have a Mother
Cherish her with care
For you never know the heartache
Till you see her vacant chair
Special thanks to Dr. Douglas and all the amazing staff at Campbell River Hospital and to Boyd’s Funeral Home for your kindness and compassion.
There will be a gathering in Campbell River, BC at the home of John & Linda on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Further information will follow.
