Dayton Anthony Gin was born in Vancouver, B.C. in 1975 and passed away on July 13, 2018, in his 43rd year in Delta, (Ladner) B.C.
He is predeceased by his father Anthony and survived by his wife Brenda and their two young children Carter and Jaymee; his mother Fern; sister Jennifer (Geoff); brother Justin (Joyce); our Auntie Lily; Auntie Debbie; as well as his maternal grandfather, and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dayton attended Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in Vancouver and earned a degree in Criminology from Simon Fraser University before joining the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. He was proud to be a member of the Surrey RCMP and had recently been promoted to Corporal. He was an accomplished martial artist with a black belt in Hapkido, and a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Dayton had a sense of humour that may not have been seen by many, but for his family it was who-he-was, and he brought much laughter and many smiles to our lives – unlike anyone else could. He was a fun-loving father and it was a joy to see him with his children.
Dayton will be greatly missed by his family, friends and brothers-in-arms in policing and martial arts.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 26, 2018, in Cedar Park Church, 5300 – 44th Avenue, Delta, B.C. Visitation (for those who wish to attend) from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
Reception to follow. There will be an open mic if you wish to share any memories, anecdotes or stories.
