DECOMMER, Willy Charles Louis Ferdinand Gerard passed away peacefully at Warkworth Place Nursing Home on July 18 2018. His life will be forever cherished in the lives of his loving wife, Lucienne (nee Cottignie), his daughters Rita Brault (Richard) and Mia Hately (Clark). Willy is predeceased by his parents Gerard Decommer and Helene Snaet. Willy was the oldest of 4 children all located in Belgium, Mariette Decommer † (Jean Machiels, Michel Vanackere †), Josef Decommer † (Madeleine †), Cecil Decommer (Frans Verstraete). Willy is survived by several nieces and nephews, Luc Vanackere (Nicole), Geert Vanackere † (Michelle Grumiaux & Eddy), Christine Vanackere (Jean-Claude Dufrasne), Pierre Vanackere (Marie-Francois), Karien Decommer (Luc Vanbiervliet ), Hilde Decommer (Hans Deprez), Lieve Decommer (Eric Cosman), Rita Verstraete (Andre Vandenberghe), Iris Verstraete (Francky Vanlerberghe). He will be greatly missed by all the Cottignie family & friends in Belgium, by all his friends of Warkworth, Simcoe, Vienne, Toronto, Orono, Ottawa. Willy had come to Canada in the late 1950’s in search of work in construction but landed him working in Tobacco with friends of his Belgian family. At that time, he purchased the farm on Godolphin Road. He returned to Belgium to marry Lucienne on March 11, 1959 and returned to Canada leaving their families behind. They grew tobacco for 24 years. Since that time, a hobby of building homes ensued which continued to other real estate avenues. His most important loves in life were his family, working hard on his farm, his business, cutting wood, and his love for Cocoa, the cat. We would like to thank Burnbrae Gardens for urgently accepting Willy into their care, Warkworth Place for taking care of him in his final weeks. All the staff were absolutely wonderful in caring for Willy and giving comfort to him and his family. The family will receive friends at WEAVER-WARKWORTH 70 Church Street on Sunday, July 22nd, 2018 from 2-5p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated from St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, Warkworth on Monday, July 23rd, 2018 at 11a.m. Interment St. Jerome’s Cemetery.
