OBITUARY
Edward Joseph Szandrowski
August 17, 1921 – July 13, 2018
Edward Joseph (Eddie) Szandrowski passed away peacefully at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre on Friday July 13 2018 at the age of 96.
Eddie was born on August 17, 1921 to Wladyslaw and Anna (Tyrchniewicz) Szandrowski in Juriampul, Poland where he lived until joining the second Polish army corps at the start of World War 2 in 1939. He served in Poland, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Egypt, and Italy. After his unit was disbanded in 1948 in England, he was sponsored to Canada by his uncle, Joe Tyrchniewicz, where he worked on the farm.
In 1951 Eddie bought his own farm in Prairie Grove. He married Julia Kashuba in 1959, and they had a wonderful life together till Julia died in 1990. He gave up active farming at the age of 75, and rented his precious farm to good friends and caring neighbours, Stan and Susan Paterson. He continued to maintain a beautiful farmyard that was admired by all who visited or drove by. Eddie loved hosting visitors and was especially fond of little children. In 2016 ill health forced him to leave his farm home. After an extended stay in hospital, he moved into the Betel Home in Selkirk where he was well looked after by the caring staff.
Eddie was predeceased by his parents, his wife and his brother in Poland. He is survived by his many relatives in Canada, Poland, and the US.

A funeral service to celebrate Eddie’s life will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 20, at Green Acres Funeral Home
