Douglas Ries
Ries: Douglas Robert Ries, age 42, of Swift Current, Sk. passed away July 2, 2018 at Cypress Regional Hospital. The Memorial Service was held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 7, 2018 from Walker Place with Kathy Wanner officiating. Life Tributes were given by his sister-in-law Shari Ries and his children Bliss Ries, Sasha Ries, Phoenix Ries and Braedon Dyck. Doug is survived by his parents Jim and Donna Ries (nee Kraushaar); father-in-law Abe Dyck; his wife Mel Ries; children Braedon Dyck, Phoenix Ries, Bliss Ries and Sasha Ries; brothers Len (Shari) Ries and Darcy (Mardelle) Ries; sister Bonnie Ries; sister-in-law Candie (Troy) Huber; nieces Cassie (Mitch Francoeur) Ries, Morgan (Ryan Gerbrandt) Ries, Reece Huber; nephews Brayden Ries and Zane Huber and great niece Zoey Filion-Ries. He was predeceased by his mother-in-law Paulette Dyck; grandparents Peter and Catherine Ries and Jack and Elizabeth Kraushaar. Doug was born at the Swift Current Union Hospital on December 12, 1975. He attended school at Oman School, Beatty Collegiate and then the Comprehensive High School in Swift Current. He married Melanie Dyck on June 11, 2016 at Saskatchewan Landing Park in a small family wedding. Doug worked for Mallard Transport and in his spare time he loved fishing, shooting targets, camping, being with his family and playing cards. Doug was a kind man, who loved his family with all of his heart. He had a crazy sense of humour and could make anyone smile. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends, a beautiful soul, taken to soon.
