Violet May Warner 2018

Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
Violet May WARNER (July 1, 1932 – July 1, 2018)
Violet May Warner (née Pecore), beloved wife of 60 years of Robert Lindsay Warner of Ottawa, passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Canada Day. It was her birthday. She was 86.
Born in Mattawa on July 1, 1932, Violet May had a small-town name that spoke of a different time and place. It was fitting. She was, after all, a small-town girl, and quietly proud of it. She was also, in every imaginable way, an original. In a world filled with hype and affectation, she was as real as the day is long. There was nothing fake about her. She didn’t have it in her. People simply called her Vi. And she was a beautiful thing to behold.
Vi was an odd study in contrasts. She was inquisitive, candid and direct and spoke of things that mattered. Yet she loved the tabloids and celebrity scuttlebutt and, of course, the royals. She made friends easily and could talk to anyone and everyone about any thing. Despite this effortless gift, she was also deeply private about the details of her own remarkable life.
She was friendly and forgiving and loving but also uncompromisingly tough. Her matter-of-fact approach, unfailing pragmatism and indomitable internal strength were born, in part, of necessity and an early life of physical challenge.
It is impossible to capture the essence of Vi in a few words, but you can trust this: She was our matriarch, a fierce protector of family and the strongest ally any of us could have had.
Vi believed life is for the living, and she asked us all to look ahead, not back, to live life well and to love one another — fully and completely. Thank you, Mom, for everything.
