“Absent from The Body Present with the Lord”
Dorothy was born in Lethbridge AB, August 08, 1923, promoted to Glory June 23, 2018. Mom was the 1st born of five and as a young teen left the frigid climate of Alberta for Burnaby BC, with her family. She happened to have a handsome young neighbor who asked her to an Air Force dance, shortly after they were married on October 17, 1942. They didn’t’ hesitate to have what turned out to be a large family of a son then 6 daughters, which translated into 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and a great – great grandson.
Life was not easy for our parents and money was scarce, but we had the stability of knowing we had loving parents, who shared their love of family, opera (Dad was Lead Baritone for the Vancouver Opera Society), fishing, Mom’s famous spaghetti and their great friends.
Mom was a devoted Christian and spent hours studying her bible. She was the great influence that saw most of her children accept the Lord. She was Mom to many especially to her daughter – in law Judy.
We want to extend a heartfelt Thank you to the loving staff at Saanich Peninsula Extended Care Hospital, you were God’s gift to Mom.
A Graveside Service and Interment will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at 1:00 pm in the Royal Oak Burial Park with a Memorial Celebration to follow at 2:00 pm in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive Victoria, BC.
