Shirley McLellan
Shirley was called to Heaven on Friday June 22nd at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with cancer.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 59 years, Bernard McLellan of Delisle, SK., son Brock ( Cheryl) of Herbert Sk., daughter Mylinda (Tim) of Delisle Sk, son Durwin (Maxine) McLellan of Cantley QC, and daughter Cyndy ( Matt) Fairbrother of Borden Sk.
Shirley will also be lovingly remembered by her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, Morgan McLellan of Kelowna B.C., Rylan (Steph) Brielle and Brooklyn Isaac of Pike Lake Sk., Corey (Brittni) and Lexi Isaac of Delisle SK., Alex McLellan of Saskatoon, Sk., Steven (Kristin Ottenbreit) McLellan of Saskatoon, Avery Fairbrother of Borden, Sk, and Lucas and Eric Martel of Cantley QC.
Shirley is also survived by her brother Bradley (Donna) Ekstrom and family, sister in law Frances Ekstrom and family of Wadena Sk. She is predeceased by her parents Eric and Veda Ekstrom and her brother Arvin Ekstrom of Wadena.
Mom was born in Wadena and grew up on the family farm. She worked various jobs as a teenager and became a nurse at the Wadena Hospital. She married Bernie on Oct 3, 1958 and together they raised four children. They moved many times, as Bernie was frequently transferred working for C.N. They settled back in Saskatchewan and mom retired from the Saskatoon Housing Authority in 2001.
Retirement was filled with gardening, cooking, baking, dancing, music and travel. Dad played fiddle with the Silverstrings and mom loved to go to the shows. Her pride and joy was her family and she put them above all else, providing unconditional love! Mom loved to have family gatherings, especially if music and singing happened. During harvest she loved to go out to the family farm and watch her brother and nephews take the crop off. Mother daughter trips were always going on, whether it was a girl’s trip to Vegas, a paint night, shopping or a mani pedi spa day, fun was always to be had! Mom was loved dearly and will always be in our hearts. The family would like to thank Dr. Rebalkin, Shelley and Crystal for their years of loving care, CPAS nurses and home care in Delisle and the caring team at palliative care in St Paul’s Hospital.
