Earl De La Perralle, husband, dad, papa, brother-in-law, uncle, coach, grandpa, mentor, The Boss, friend, foodie, great dresser, sports nut, best bargain hunter, crazy Santa and accomplished traveler, died peacefully on Tuesday June 19, 2018.
He married the love of his life Hilda, with whom he had two children Kara and David (Kim) and……10.000 others. Through his guidance, his passion and their shared life experiences Earl passed on to both Kara and David the desire and motivation to always strive to better themselves and their entire community His idea of a holiday was getting Hilda and the kids helping out at the summer camp! He taught them that everyone deserved a helping hand and a second chance…no questions asked. He took extreme pride and joy in his three grandchildren James, Valerie and Jake.
Earl, at age 9, was raising money for uniforms so youths could play sports before governments realized there was a need to fund sports programs for inner city youths. He had a life-long love affair with sports … any sport. Sports was the way to give kids an opportunity to be involved and stay in school. He believed that participation and education would create awareness that we can achieve anything and everything.
Life lessons according to Coach Earl: People learn in many different ways, some need encouragement, some need a stern conversation and for others (only pulling grass will do!)
He excelled at getting the best deal for your buck, whether it was clothing, alcohol, food, sports equipment or just about anything under the Sun, Earl managed to get us “THAT DEAL”! Speaking about shopping, and the deal, Earl was the Santa of all Santa’s. He began shopping for Christmas in the month of January. He shopped for his family and I mean his family. His wife, his kids, his grandkids, brother in law sister in law nieces & nephews and of courses each and every one of his employees.
Earl traveled extensively throughout the USA and Canada, so that his “kids” could have the opportunity to be seen by scouts and coaches alike. But truth be told it was not just about the sport , it was about offering the ‘kids’ an opportunity to cultivate new friendships and expose them to different lifestyles and broaden their horizons. He made sure that whatever town they were in, the kids were exposed to local lifestyle!
Because of his deep rooted fear that his family would throw him a depressing going away, he informed us that it should be a celebration of his life and not the mourning of his passing.
Please join us to celebrate the life of Earl at Mount Royal Cemetery 1297 Chemin de la Foret. Visitation Friday June 22nd 2018 5p.m. – 7p.m., Saturday June 23rd, 2018 10a.m. – 12p.m., 1p.m. – 4p.m., 6p.m. – 9p.m. and Sunday June 24th, 2018 Condolences in the chapel 12p.m. – 1p.m. Service to follow at 1:00p.m.
Finally, the family asks that in honor of Earl, In lieu of flowers please make donations to the
Sun Youth Organization Sports & Recreation.
Because…..it’s all about the kids!
