OBITUARY
Bradley Lawson Fancy
June 14, 1964 – June 13, 2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bradley Lawson Fancy, of Harrietsfield, NS, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, to pancreatic cancer at home at the age of 53.
Born on June 14, 1964, he was the youngest son of Lewis (Betty Gray) and his mother the late Gloria Fancy (Crouse). Brad is survived by his siblings, Sherri (Lloyd) Fisher, Jeff (Barb) Fancy, Pam (Justin Wetmore) Fancy. Nieces and nephews, Chantel, Jeanette, Adam Fisher. Predeceased by Brandon Fisher, Kimberley, Justin Fancy, Ayden Taylor.
Brad was employed by his father at the family business Lewis Fancy Trucking & Excavation where he had worked for over 35 years.
He was a person known to speak his mind yet he was the first one to lend a hand no matter what the task, his loyalty to his family and friends goes beyond recognition, Brad believed in doing at least one good deed a week.
Brad loved to work outside almost as much as he loved his car. He spent countless hours working on his yard and designing and building his rock walls, his latest project was the 3 flag podium which took over a year to complete.
His passion for his car, a 1964 Chevy II, equaled his love for NASCAR especially the Daytona 500 which he would host an all day party at his home for all his friends. There was some pretty serious ribbing to each buddy who cheered for their favourite driver until the race was over.
Pool nights on Wednesdays became a tradition that has lasted for over 30 years. An evening with friends that would play a joke, tell stories, all in fun. However at the end of the season it got serious because the annual Whitehead Road trophy would be presented. A presentation that put Brad’s name on the trophy many times over the years.
His cats, who could forget his cats, with the unique names that only Brad could come up with; Chevy, Harley, Chopper, Reggie and Lucky.
There were many a Saturday night we would gather in front of his garage to have a bonfire where great conversation, old stories, and laughs were shared by all in attendance. It was always an open invitation until Brad would say “Ok, that’s it, time to shut her down.” Everyone would just laugh have another drink and ignore his comment, even after he would put away the chairs and turn out the lights, we would stay until the fire was out.
A very special thank you to everyone who took the time to finish his dream car, the 1964 Chevy II. Many a late night with Brad sitting in a chair in the garage while the car was slowly transforming before his eyes, making sure it was done right and not scratched. A comment was even heard “You know you love your car when the parts are in the spare bed.” There are too many people to thank and Brad was overwhelmed with the outreach of support there were many a night a tear could be seen in his eyes. These were tears of joy in knowing that he had friends willing to do whatever it took to get the job done, especially over the past 6 weeks. Countless hours and pride were given by all involved; it truly is “A building of a memory.”
Brad you have given all of us your love, friendship, and treasured memories, now you can rest in peace. Look down upon us and protect us with your mom, and know that the fire will always remain bright and forever be remembered deep in our hearts. God bless.
