Cindy « Cinderella » Simmonds
SIMMONDS – STATES, CINDY – 65, of North Preston, passed away peacefully in the Victoria General Hospital on May 27th, 2018. She is the daughter of Oneita (Downey), North Preston and the late Victor Simmonds. She was a member of Saint Thomas United Baptist Church. Cindy is also survived by her loving and faithful husband Darrell States, children Zeran S and Cinera S, and grandchildren Riley and Krue, mother-in-law Regina Allison (Windsor NS), Sisters; Patricia (Randy) Braithwaite, Quebec, Wendy (Gary) Gray, East Preston. Brothers; Elroy (Marlene) Simmonds, North Preston, Hank (Debbie) Simmonds, East Preston. and Elvis Downey (Angela) East Preston. Godparents Correen Beals, Linda Smith, Wally and Lillian Cain. Several special aunts, uncles, godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was very proud and supportive of her two children and the professions they chose. She loved people, was very friendly, and often made new friends wherever she went. Cindy worked as a Personal Support Worker at Riverside Nursing Home (Windsor, Ontario). She loved her job, especially the residents for which she cared for. She also enjoyed shopping and stayed current with the latest fashions. Cindy will be remembered for her giving nature and beautiful smile. She is predeceased by Grandparents Florence (James) and Edward Simmonds and Amos and Bertha (Willis) Downey. Visitation will be held on Friday June 1st at the Saint Thomas United Baptist Church in North Preston from 12-1 pm followed by the funeral service at 1 pm. Rev. Wallace Smith officiating, assisted by Pastor Edward Simmons. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home. Burial to take place at Atlantic Funeral home cemetery, flowers are welcome. Donations can be made to St. Thomas United Baptist Church. There will be no repast. Special thanks to the Doctors and Nursing staff of Windsor Regional and QEII hospital.
