Sadly, on May 23, 2018, Glen passed away at the age of 49. He was born in Kenora, September 28, 1968.
Glen was predeceased by his parents Vernon Mainville and Delores Mainville nee Cobiness; his grandparents William & Gladys Cobiness (Tatanon and Momanan); his brother Chris Mainville and Billy Mainville; Uncle Frank, Max & Ron Cobiness, Jerry Perrault, Melvin, Herman & Willard Mainville; Aunt Mary Jack (George), Christine Cobiness, Florence Perrault, Donalda (Dee), Lorette & Nora Mainville and great niece Beverly Cobiness.
Glen is survived by his children; Jonathan Slipperjack (Kodie), Daniel Johnson (Natasha) Kanyon Redsky (mom Cassandra Redsky), his grandchildren; Hazel, Mikalya and Tallen Slipperjack, Evander and Nolan Johnson, his siblings; Greg “Buff” and Valerie Mainville, Corrine Ottertail, his aunt and uncles; Wayne Cobiness (Ana), Merv Copenace (Tina), Joanne Cobiness (Chops), Valerie Mainville and Steve Mainville, nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Glen grew up in Kenora with his grandparents, brothers, cousins and large extended family. His grandparents raised him in the traditional & customary ways of the Ojibway culture.
Glen spent many years in Kenora, Fort Frances, Ochiichagwe’babigo’ining Ojibway Nation and Shoal Lake #40 these were his stomping grounds in which he had many friends and relatives.
Glen has always been a soft-spoken man ready to give a smile and handshake to old and new people he has met during his life. In his younger years, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends hunting, fishing, bonfires and playing baseball. Glenn was happiest when he spent time with his children and grandchildren sharing his stories and advice. Towards the end, Glenn cherished his last moments with his oldest and best friend, Jon.
Forever remembered and missed by his family and friends.
Traditional wake services will begin on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Ochiichagwe’ babio’ining Community Centre. Funeral will be Monday, May 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Ochiichagwe’babio’ining First Nation.
Pallbearers will be Clayton Cameron, Mike Cobiness, Andrew Easton, Robert Handorgan, Evan Perrault and Tyler Perrault.
