The family of James « Red » Roddick are saddened to announce his passing at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Saturday, May 12, 2018 in his 89th year. Predeceased by parents Kenneth and Myrtle Roddick. Beloved husband of Diane nee Spence for 68 years. Dear father of Bradley and Patti. Much loved grandfather of Michael, Kendal and Taylor. Predeceased by sister Eileen (James) Matthews. Will be missed by sister Carol and brother-in-law Alan Gorrie and many nieces and nephews. Red was a long-time employee of General Motors (46 years). With a great sense of humour and wonderful laugh, he was always ready to entertain with a story or joke. Many special occasions hosted by Red and Diane in their home were enjoyed by their friends and family. While vacationing in their favourite destination, Cuba, they made a host of friends along the way. When visiting Cuba for the 50th time, Red and his cohorts were honoured by hotel and staff with a celebratory dinner. A private family service will take place at Mount Lawn Funeral Home on Friday, May 18th, at 2:00pm. In memory of Red, donations to Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital would be appreciated.
