Obituary of Lorene Miller
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lorene Yanke Miller (nee Shantz) on Sunday, May 6, 2018 with her daughters at her side, at Grand River Hospital in her 96th year.
Lovingly remembered by her daughters, Barbara Hahn (Brian) of Waterloo, Joan Sutton (Glenn) of Kincardine. Her grandchildren, Rob Carse, Rebecca Ramshaw (David), John Sutton (Aimee), Jennifer Rutter (Andrew), Graham Sutton (Shannon), Derek, Kaitlyn and Micah (Toronto and London). Great-grandchildren, Jackson, Tommy, Allison, Katie, Madison, Rachel, Harriet, and Liam.
Predeceased by her parents Morgan C. Shantz and Viola May Young, her husbands Robert Yanke (1985) and Wilbur Miller (2000); son Paul Yanke (2013); and sisters Verda Simpson and June Yates.
Lorene was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She always put her family first. Her church and her faith sustained her. Lorene treasured the years she worshipped at Zion United (EUB) Church followed by more than 40 years at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kitchener.
In her senior years, Lorene enjoyed going to the symphony concerts and trips with Outings. Sewing, quilting and knitting were her long-time hobbies and she maintained her sense of style and fashion to the end.
Lorene enjoyed her time at Bankside Terrace where she enjoyed living for the past year.
Lorene’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Immediately following the service, everyone is invited to a reception in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.
