1940-2018
Rendal Floyd Caseley of Kelvin Grove passed away peacefully
at home with family on May 3, 2018. Born in Summerside, May
20, 1940 son of the late Floyd and Georgie (Montgomery)
Caseley. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife,
Sandra who was his partner in life. Family meant everything
to Rendal and he was eternally proud of each of his children,
grandchildren and his beautiful 10 month old great grandchild,
Macaulay James Paynter. He was the loving father of Gregory (Kathy)
Caseley of Kelvin Grove, Beverley (Marvin) MacKay of Charlotte, North
Carolina, Patsy (Edward) Smith of Prospect, Nova Scotia and Sharon
(Craig) Glencross of Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia and grandfather of
Jennifer (Grant) Paynter, Jamie Caseley (Jonel), Bryanna &
Kalina MacKay, Mackenzie, Rylan & Victoria Smith, Matthew
& Alexander Glencross. He is also survived by his brother
Gerald (Lois) Caseley, sister Miriam (Wilfred) Forbes, brothers-in-law
Bobby Jardine and Donald (Ann) Jardine, sister-in-law Cynthia (Garth)
Frizzell and many extended family. He was pre-deceased by his niece
Georgie Caseley.
Rendal was loved and respected by so many. He spent his life
selflessly volunteering his time, talents and energy on numerous
community projects and initiatives, always with Sandra by his
side.
He was a farmer, entrepreneur, & residential
developer. Creative and innovative, he was always designing, building
and constructing. He loved music, playing his guitar and most of all
walking hand in hand, skiing, and travelling with Sandra.
His accomplishments are many. He held numerous positions including
President and Board Member of the Kensington and Area Chamber of
Commerce, President of the Kensington and Area Development Inc, Vice
President and Board Member of the Prince County Hospital Foundation,
President of the Kensington and Area Figure Skating Club, Chairman of
the Kensington and Area Main Street Advisory Board, Vice Chairman of
the East Prince Community Advisory Board, Board Member of the PEI
Welfare Appeals Board, and Chairman of the building committee for the
new community gardens. He received several awards for volunteer
services over the years including the Kensington Citizen of the Year
Award in 2012.
Special thanks to the Summerside Palliative Care
Nurses, PEI Cancer Treatment Centers (Charlottetown and
Summerside) and Dr. Peter McKean for their exemplary care and
support.
At Rendal’s request, there will be no visitation or
funeral. Family will be hosting a celebration of life at Rendal and
Sandra’s home, 254 Kelvin Rd, Sunday afternoon, May 6th at
3-5 pm. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions may be made to the
Prince County Hospital Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to
the Davison Funeral Home Kensington. www.davisonfh.com
