Steel, Isabel Marie (nee Holmes) – passed away on Tuesday April 24, 2018, at the Blenheim Community Village, age 88. Born in Detroit Michigan on December 17, 1929 to parents the late Isabel Elizabeth (nee Green) and Clarence Oscar Holmes. Loving wife of the late J. Beverley Steel (2007). Beloved mother of Sharren and Dale Eveland, of Blenheim, James A. Steel, of London and Joanne and Paul Lennon of Calgary Alberta.
Grandmother of Bruce (Lenni Carreiro) Eveland, Michael (Laura) Eveland, Bill Steel (Alyssa Pan), Kari (Jordan) Lawrence, Jennifer Lennon (Trevor Haldane), Cameron Lennon, Craig Lennon (Sarah Tani), and Evan Lennon.
Great-Grandma to Caitlyn Eveland, Brooke Steel and Alex Eveland.
Sister of the late Doug & surviving Grace Holmes of London, the late David & surviving Joyce Holmes of Windsor, surviving Doris Snobelen & and the late Mac of Ajax, the late Edwin Holmes, and the late Hugh Holmes.
Sister-in-law to Marg & Lyle Goldhawk of Blenheim and Carol & Dave McVicar of Chatham. Predeceased also by her brother-in-law Garry Steel.
Marie and Beverley were married on July 13, 1950. Together they lived on the Steel family farm where Beverley was born. That same year she graduated from the Chatham General Hospital Nursing Program on September 7. She continued her work for the hospital in the nursery ward until her retirement after over 25 years of service.
Marie was baptised on July 16, 1944 and was a faithful member of the Blenheim Baptist Church. She was also a past member of the Guilds United Church Women and the Public General Hospital Nurses Auxiliary.
A private funeral service was held at the funeral home with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim.
