Olive Albertha Veinotte

VEINOTTE, Olive A. – 82 of Mahone Bay, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. Born in Mahone Bay, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Gladys (Rhyno) Rhuland. Olive was a life-long resident of the Town and was employed for many years at Rhuland’s Save Easy and the Town Squire Restaurant. She was a founding member and past president of the Mahone Bay Fire Department Auxiliary, a former member of the Legionettes, Mahone Bay Branch #49, Royal Canadian Legion and a member of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay. Olive was dedicated to and loved her family dearly. She is survived by her sons, Bruce and Jeffrey both of Mahone Bay; brother, Russell Rhuland, Mahone Bay; sister, Elizabeth (Tom) Spinney, Wentzell Lake; grandchildren, Cameron and Shannon Veinotte, Lower Sackville; nieces, Jennifer (Steven) Calder, Dartmouth, Mary (Jonathan) Crouse, New Canada; and nephew, John (Kim) Rhuland, Dartmouth, as well as extended family. Olive was predeceased by her husband, Paul; brother, Ronald; and step-mother, Rowena (Crossland). Bruce and Jeffrey wish to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Jenkins for his compassionate care during this difficult time, as well as South Shore Regional Hospital 4th floor staff, VON, Home Care and Palliative Care. By request, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Friday, April 27th in the Park Cemetery, Mahone Bay, Father Chad McCharles officiating. Donations in memory may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay or the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
