Obituary for Ida Reid
REID, Ida (nee Del Monte) The family announces with great sorrow her peaceful death at Extendicaire Timmins on Saturday, December 23, 2017. Ida was born in Timmins, April 10, 1926 to Italian immigrant parents along with her five brothers and one sister. Ida loved to share her Italian culture with family and friends, and there was always an extra plate at the family table on “spaghetti nights”. Ida was an avid bowler winning a multitude of individual, team and mixed bowling titles over many years with her husband. Ida and “Red” were married for 56 years raising their family in the same home. In addition to her loving care of her family, Ida was very community-minded and volunteered for 45 years with the Hospital Auxiliaries at both St. Mary’s and Timmins and District Hospitals. She was honoured with a Life Membership. In their retirement years, Ida and “Red” added volunteer time together at the Golden Manor. Ida was also active with the Dante Club Timmins and granted Life Membership for her years of service and support. Predeceased by her husband Raymond “Red” in 2004 and by her sons Tommy in 1955 and Jerry in 2000. Beloved mother of Jim (Maureen) of Cochenour, Ontario and Donna (Nino) Porco of South Porcupine. Ida is also survived by her brother Mario (Silvana) Del Monte of Pescara Italy. Loving grandmother of Joshua (Jennifer), Mitchell (Valerie), Benjamin (Julia), Hilary (Tutty), Christopher, Kyle (Kristie), Michelle, Nina and Angela. Ida will be missed by her daughter-in-law Barb Reid Timmins and her great grandchildren: Elliott, Spencer, Emilia, Brynleigh and Malina. She will also be sadly missed by loving nieces and nephews, and many life-long friends. Ida was predeceased by her parents Cherubino and Domenica (DeLuca), brothers Tony, Joe, Lino, Armand “Dutchy” and sister Stella Del Monte. Ida’s wish was to remain independent in her own home for as long as possible and everyone helped to grant that wish. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for the many providers who cared for Ida with wonderful in-home support and compassion including Care Partners, Raquel and Fawsia, and the entire staff on the Porcupine Lake unit at Extendicaire. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in the Miron-Wilson Funeral Chapel with a reception to follow in the Miron-Wilson lounge. (Fr.
