It is with great sadness and wonderful memories that we announce the passing of Charlie on March 30th at the age of 74.
Charlie will be forever remembered by his wife Wendy, and their two children Leanne and Cameron.
He will be deeply missed by his brother Bill (Joan) and by Wendy’s siblings Nancy (Joe) and Alan (Marie). He will be fondly remembered as « Uncle Charlie » to his many nieces and nephews. He leaves a wide circle of long time friends, many of… Read More » whom were considered family.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Mayme.
Charlie was born and raised on a farm in South Western Ontario, leading an idyllic country life. He always had a yearn for adventure and travel. His early working years took him West and that is where his love of the mountains began. In 1974 Charlie and Wendy settled in Kelowna and thus began a wonderful 44 years of work, play, family life and travel. He worked as the grader operator for Gorman Bros Lumber for 32 years, spending his days on the mountain roads he loved. Community service was always a priority for Charlie, from the Lions’ Club to Jaycees to Kelowna Regatta Association, always there to be a helping hand. Without a doubt, his proudest achievement was his family, raising two amazing children into the wonderful adults that they are. He leaves his family with many special memories of camping, skiing, travelling and enjoying every day to the fullest.
Our family would like to thank Charlie’s caregivers over this past year at KGH and at the Kelowna Cancer Clinic. Special thanks to Dr. Hodgins and Dr. Delourme for giving us hope when he was first diagnosed. A big thank you to our friends and neighbours who have been there for us.
Remember Charlie as you walk on the beach, as you tee off, as you go for a bike ride, as you catch a big fish or as you ski down the snowy slopes. He will be right there with you!
