A loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, Martine passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family after a hard-fought battle against Multiple System Atrophy. Her courage, strength of character, and generosity throughout her struggle with this illness was typical of her personality. Pre-deceased by her loving parents Roger and Hélène Durand and husband Grenville Robinson, she leaves to mourn her daughter Sarah Murphy (Tim), granddaughters Hayley, Trinity, Gracie, sisters Odile, Françoise, Mireille, Nelly and brother Jean-Paul, numerous nieces and nephews.
Martine was a painter, a teacher, a gardener, and talented craftsperson. Her extended family at Bishop Field Elementary School – teachers, students, staff – brought her much joy both as a professional educator and as a friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and were touched by her life.
Cremation has already taken place. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Bishop Field Elementary School in her name or to Parkinson’s/Multiple System Atrophy research. A private celebration of her life for family and friends will be held Saturday March 31st from 2pm to 5pm at 26 Colonial St., St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.
