Keith « Nick » Malcolm Pineo
1928-2018
It is with sadness that the family of Keith « Nick »
Pineo announces his death at Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on
Thursday, March 29, 2018, at the age of 89. Born in Dartmouth, NS, on
June 28, 1928, he was the husband of Rose Marie (Pothier) Pineo of
Fredericton, NB.
In addition to his wife, Rose Marie, Nick leaves behind his
children, Mark (Leona) of Halifax, NS, Arlene of Fredericton, NB, and
Brian (Cathy) of Dartmouth, NS; grandsons, Keith and Scott Pineo; many
nieces and nephews. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Ralph and
Bessie (Porter) Pineo; siblings, Elsie Murphy, Mary Holman, and Tom
Pineo.
Nick graduated from Horton Academy at Acadia University and
started his career as an electrician in the Halifax shipyards. He
worked at Vickers in Montreal, Quebec, and Saint John shipyard in New
Brunswick. He served aboard the Kapuskasing, Montrose, Fort Francis,
Baffin, Bluenose, Abby, and John Hamilton Grey. He retired in
1997.
Nick was awarded a life membership to the Lions Club for
service to the community in various capacities. In his retirement he
enjoyed winter travel to Florida, golf, curling, sailing, and making
cabinetry. He was a man that always had to have a project many of
which ended up as furniture for friends and family. Most of all, Nick
enjoyed people. He was happiest when hosting a party with new and old
friends.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on Monday,
April 2, 2018 from 12:30 – 2:00 pm followed by a service in the
funeral home chapel beginning at 2:00 pm. Rev. Ellen Beairsto will
officiate. Interment will be in Berwick, NS, at a later date. In lieu
of flowers, donations in Nick’s memory can be made to Dr. Everett
Chalmers Hospital Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, or the NB
Heart and Stroke Foundation.
