Anne-Marie Eagles
November 8, 1962 – March 29, 2018
How does one say good bye to our earth angel?
After a courageous battle with cancer and surrounded by her family, the illness took away our earth angel Anne-Marie on Wednesday, March 28th at the Doctor Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Anne-Marie was born in Fredericton on November 8, 1962. She was the wife of Michael Eagles and daughter of Herman and Azelie Allain.
Anne-Marie started teaching in 1984 at Minto Elementary School. She was known as Mlle Allain and Mme Eagles. Many of her students still talk today about how she was their favourite teacher and how her impact is still felt. Anne-Marie greeted her students with great respect and with a smile every morning. She took a break from teaching to support her husband Mike’s professional hockey career and to raise her boys. Anne-Marie returned to teaching in the year 2000. She recently retired from the Anglophone School District West. Her last position was as a guidance counsellor at Liverpool St. School. Of her many accomplishments, Anne-Marie was most proud of her sons Matthew (Maria) and Christopher (Kathryn). She encouraged them to follow their passion and not to be afraid to « reach for the moon ». She could often be heard saying to them « I will love you forever ». She took great pride in her sons’ many accomplishments.
Born: November 8, 1962 Death: March 29, 2018
Anne-Marie’s biggest strength was the way she connected with people of all ages and of all backgrounds. A room would light up when she walked in and smiled. She had a way in making people feel special and very capable of achieving their dreams. A gift that all who knew her will miss.
In addition to her parents and sons, Anne-Marie will be missed by her sisters Annette Hegarty (Mark) and Monique, niece Courtney, and « adopted sisters » Leanne Wiens and Judy Greene. She will also be missed by her mother-in-law Geraldine Eagles; brothers-in-law Rodney (Tracey) and Andrew (Marilyn); nieces Emma and Erin; and nephews Ryan, Adam and Jared. Anne-Marie is predeceased by her father-in-law Ernie Eagles.
Anne-Marie was a member of the Morning Gate Church Community. The family would like to express their gratitude for all the prayers and support that
the congregation members expressed during this journey. A special thank you to Pastor Deborah McDonald and to her SALT Sisters group.
The family takes comfort in knowing that there are just as many people in heaven saying « hello » as there are people on earth saying « good-bye ». Until we meet again!
A Celebration of Life will take place at St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at 3 pm with Rev. Bill Brennan and Pastor Debra MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow in the Monsignor Boyd Family Centre, 120 Regent Street. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Anne-Marie Eagles Memorial Scholarship at St. Thomas University
