Obituary Overview
Lucila Cruz
It is with triumphant thanksgiving that we announce the homecoming of our beloved Lucila Cruz to our Heavenly Father. On March 25, 2018, Lucila peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family.
Lucila was born October 27, 1938 in the Philippines. She migrated to Canada in November 1973 and retired in October 1998. Lucila was a culinary genius, talented seamstress, and a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and servant of the Lord. She served her church community, St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, as a dedicated usher and parishioner. She was a generous woman who gave unconditionally without reservation, always ready to welcome anyone with her warm embrace and her beautiful smile. As the matriarch and anchor of her family, she exemplified her unfailing faith and left this behind as her everlasting legacy.
Lucila was predeceased by her dear and loving husband Armando M. Cruz, her children Arturo and Susan, her eight older siblings, and her parents.
Lucila leaves her children Alfredo Cruz (Zonia) of the Philippines, Yolando Cruz (Tomisito) and Alicia Agpalza (Allen) of Winnipeg, and Evelyn Claudio (Conrado Jr.) of California.
She will be greatly missed by her twelve grandchildren: Ma. Carmela (Paul), Maria Cristina (Flaviano III), Ma. Eliza (Will), Jeramael John (Rodora), Juan Carlo (Ava), Jennifer, Andrew (Galilea), Alvin (Kathryn), Jacqueline, Adam (Jamie), Julius (April), and Adriel (Jilly). Lucila will also be remembered by her nine great grandchildren Dennis, Gabrielle, Enzo, Jacob, Ethan, Ella, Carell Jarret, and Theodore, all of whom endearingly called her “Mimi”.
Her spirit will continue to live on through her family and loved ones, along with numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in the Philippines, the United States and Canada.
Lamay (Viewing) will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, with Monsignor Enrique Samson Jr. presiding, 748 Keewatin Street, Winnipeg. Interment will take place in the Philippines at a later date.
