It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dad and grandpa at the age of 75 with his loving family by his side.
Born to Fred and Vera Striker in Biggar, Saskatchewan , one of 6 children. At the age of 5 Stan moved to Agassiz with his family, where they purchased their family home in 1952, on Ashton Road where he spent his years growing up. As a young teen, he left to fight fires in Nakusp and Bella Coola, BC.
In 1962 he married his high school sweetheart, Jean Cameron. Soon after, they moved to Terrace, BC where they had their first son. After 2 years they returned to Agassiz where Stan became an employee with Hardy’s Gas Station and where they purchased their first home on Pioneer Avenue East.
After a couple of years he then moved on to work for the Department of Highways and within that time they completed their family which consisted of 7 children. In 1977 the family moved to their new home on Morrow Road (now known today as Scott Road) where they raised their family until 1990. Later they built one last home on Pixley Lane where they enjoyed many years leading right up to their retirement.
Stan enjoyed many hobbies which included golfing with his brothers, carpentry which included building a hope chest for all his kids and grandchildren as well as many other woodworking projects for his kids homes. He also enjoyed puttering around the house, monkey wrenching on the family vehicles as well as working in his garden and looking after his donkey, goats, chickens and dogs. He enjoyed the kids and grandchildren always popping in to visit him and giving them his words of wisdom. He also looked forward to the yearly family camping trips.
He will be forever missed by his children; Darcy(Marina), Tuesday(John), Kelly, Guy(Cathy), Stacy(Roy) and grandchildren: Courtney, Lyndon, Camryn, Nicole, Skylar, Dylan, Keith, Jordan, Mikayla, Kelsey, Aaron, Abbie, Devan, Terron, Sydney and Rionna. Siblings: Lloyd, Clarence(Amy), Valdeane(Ken) and Ted(Lorna) and many sister and brother-in-laws.
Predeceased by his wife Jean; sons Bradley and Clinton and son-in-law Blair; Parents Fred and Vera and Brother Gwellyn.
There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Agassiz United Church followed by refreshments at the Friendship House .
If friends and family desire; donations can be made to a charity of their choice in memory of Stanley Striker.
