Obituary for Mary DeFelice (Connelly)
In loving memory of Mary DeFelice who passed away peacefully at 90 years of age on Thursday, March 22, 2018 with her family by her side. She was married to George DeFelice for 62 years, now together again. The daughter of Eliza Jane Morrison and Robert J. Connelly, both predeceased. Proud and loving mother of three, Maureen Blakely (Arden) of Sudbury, Paul DeFelice of Nelson B.C. and Greg DeFelice (Barb) of Sault Ste. Marie. Adoring grandmother to her four grandchildren, Matthew Blakely (Christine), Stephanie Boyuk (John), Julia and George DeFelice. Blessed great grandmother to three beautiful great grandchildren, Devon Macintyre-Blakely, Cohen and Emiry Boyuk. Loving sister of Kathleen Smylie predeceased (Rod predeceased), Florence Wintemute, Margaret Braddock (Jack predeceased), Jim Connelly (Liisa) and Roberta Eli (Don predeceased). Mary will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Born in Shawville, QC, Mary was raised in Domex (South Porcupine). In 1944, as part of the war effort, Mary worked at the Hammond Farm in Southern Ontario as a farmerette. Following high school Mary attended the University of Toronto where she studied pharmacy. In 1950 after graduating with honours from the Ontario College of Pharmacy, she then married George DeFelice in South Porcupine. Mary worked as a pharmacist at various retail pharmacies in the city of Sudbury before finishing her career at the Sudbury General Hospital. She was an avid bridge player, line dancer, and supporter of the St. James Anglican Church. Mary possessed the gift of hospitality and was an excellent cook, her kitchen was always open to friends and family whether staying for a visit or just passing through Sudbury. Our family would like to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff at Pioneer Manor who always cared for Mary with dignity and respect. Your hard work and kindness will not be forgotten.
A celebration of life will be held in the
R. J. Barnard Chapel
Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home
233 Larch Street, Sudbury
Saturday, March 31st, 2018 at 11:30am,
with a reception to follow the service.
(Friends may call after 11am Saturday).
Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium.
