Passed away at the Hastings Centennial Manor, following a lengthly illness, on Monday, March 19, 2018. Edith O’Brien, age 69, born and raised in Bancroft, was the dear daughter of Violet Mary (Tomasini) O’Brien of Hastings Centennial Manor and the late Francis Joseph O’Brien (1986). Loving mother of Karen O’Brien of Lindsay, and Barry (Cindy) O’Brien of Bancroft. Cherished grandmother of Justin (Tao), Jill (Nick), Jessie, Tyler, and Brenden. Great-grandmother of Jayce, Trinity and Charlee. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Pat (Edith) O’Brien of Bancroft, Betty O’Brien of Cardiff and Janet O’Brien of Bowmanville. Predeceased by her brothers Joseph (2006), Francis (2013) his wife Janet (2006) and James (2010). Edith will be sadly missed by aunts, uncles, cousins, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Edith had been a long-time resident of Lindsay before moving to the Manor in December 2015. She had been employed in various careers. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and was an amazing cook, baker, and loved playing bingo and cards. Edith’s family will receive relatives and friends at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church (196 Bridge St. W., Bancroft) on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 11:00 – 12 Noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 12 Noon with Fr. Casmir Muobike presiding. Interment in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
