Robert R. J. « Bob » Edwards
It is with tremendous love and sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished father, Robert “Bob” Edwards at the age of 85. Bob’s spirit left us on March 17, 2018 to be reunited with the love of his life, Pat, who had pre-deceased him in 2013. The eldest son of his family, he was pre-deceased by parents Russell and Catherine (Scanlon) Edwards and brothers Blair and Kevin. Left behind and missing his wit, candor and love are daughter Susan (Charlie) Smith, son Peter (Denise), grandsons Ryan (Beth) Edwards, Tom (Sherrylynn) Smith & Scott (Amanda) Edwards; his beloved great-grandchildren Cameron, Nathan, Madelyn and Loren; and a wealth of cousins, in-laws and friends far too numerous to list. Retired since 1987, Bob and Pat greatly enjoyed travelling and the many true and lasting friendships forged throughout the years. Ever an avid gardener, chef and golfer, in later years Dad enjoyed golf, basketball and hockey from the comfort of his easy-chair. Perhaps his best “sport” was cribbage and we’ll all remember him each time we play a game. We love and miss him but take comfort knowing that he is now at peace. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors and staff of the Halifax Infirmary 8.4, and especially to Dad’s brother-in-law, David Scott, for his many visits and kindnesses during dad’s final days. Family & friends will gather together to remember Bob at his home, 2717 Gladstone Street in the sky lounge, on Wednesday March 21 between 1:00-3:00pm. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date at Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. Donations in Bob’s memory can be made to The Canadian Liver Foundation or any charity of your choice.
